Something cool he mentioned was that just like regular items, there are rare, epic and even legendary jewels. Here is a quick look at some of the coolness that awaits in the Burning Crusade expansion in terms of Jewels. Drestcher's Gem of Entenched Demon Ears
Race: Undead, Blood Elves
Classes: Warrior, Hunter
Uses: Socketed Melee Weapons
Level: 55
Lore: The Twisting Nether houses the most horrid, soul rendering, and demonic sounds in all of existance. The dark void spelltician, Drestcher summoned a thousand demon ears to cover her body, and flew to the most shrill and reality bending that have ever echoed. Then in a ceremony of blood and harmony she cut the ears that had recorded the noise from her body and entenched them within a gem.

Equip: 3% Chance When struck to Silence all of your Guildmates for 30 seconds.

Uses: Gem can be crafted into Neck attire.
Level: 70
Lore: The Draenai being close to the Holy light are often accused of being overly pious. No single piece of Jewlery proves this more.

Equip: Converts you to Azerothian Orthodox Catholic. Grants "Hated" relationship with Lorderanutheran Church members.
Equip: Negates "Scientific Logic" skill (among other things), this causes a forfeiture of Alchemy, and Engineering Professions, use of contraceptives, and places an Utinni effect on Outland that must be completed in 5 turns or you lose 5 force, but grants +5 to spirit.
Equip: -68% Tolerance to gays (gnomes).
Equip: During Log on on Sundays, 2% Chance that local priest acciendetaly casts "Defiler's Touch of the Forbidden Taboo" on your only son. "Defiler's Touch" is unblockable. Son will be afflicted with "Curse of the Mansaken", where he will suffer +30 to self-doubt and +40 to Shame and have a 2% Chance of Suicide per day, unless he attends "Burning Orc" in the desert in Californimdoor. Son will then move to San Franstormwind. Holidays will have a +20 to "Awkward" when Son brings Significat other over, and all family events gain a +30% Chance to end in shouting match. You then have the option of training up your "Disown Child" ability.

Level: 70
Lore: The Blood Elves had to fight hard for their land and their lives and value citizenship highly.

Equip: New Reputation class above exalted: "Valued Member of the community" in Quel'Thalas. Allows you to purchase Epic Volvo which is +100% to travel safety. Also adds 3% tax to all items purchased in Quel'Thalas to go towards rebuilding the Eastern Plague lands and funding public schools.
Equip: New Reputation class allows your reputation to go beyond hated to "Loathed". Loathed status gives you -20 Resistance to pundits, and People from the faction that "Loathe" you have a +%50 chance to Critical on you with spells and melee damage. If struck with a "Loathing" critical, this will cause -20% fun.
If more than 2000 people on a server decide to use an elven ring of citizenship, Quel'Thalas becomes a gated community and you can vote to keep certain races out.

Lore: Irrespective of Medivhs large role in the history of Azeroth he spent most of his time traveling, and traveling cheaply became his passion.

Equip: Grants wearer "Stowaway" ability, while on Ferry's and Airships. Eating own shoe will not break stowaway. +300% Body odor, which gives search dogs and trolls +50% Chance to detect Stowaway.
Equip: Gives wearer ability to speak new Language "Gibberish." While wearing Hobo bangle, can only speak gibberish, and you suffer a Language barrier penalty when dealing with merchants, and law enforcement.

(4) Set: -5 Spirit. Chance on eating spoiled food to see Tauren Jesus when hitchhiking on the highway in the Barrens.
