Hollywood is enamored with the concept of remakes and sequels. A Studios' irrational fear of failutes urges them to find the "sure things". This opens the door for studioes to try capitalize on chracters and stories already introduced to the market via prior movies. And regardless of opinion, integrity, and better reason we are faced with sloughs of seemingly ill-advised films. Here is a short list of films that are in development that are coming to a theatre near you.
Studio: MGM
Title: Blown Away 2: The Blow Down Under
Genre: Action/Thriller
Tag: The Barbie gets cooked, with revenge.
Director: Michael Bay
Actors: Jeff Bridges, Elijah Wood
Synopsis: Sequel to the 1994 Block buster with Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones. Set in Australia, Jeff Bridges teams up with Aussie law enforcement to catch the dangerous Elijah Wood (Dingo Dave Lannigar). Jude Law declined role and hung up on Christopher J. McGurk (MGM, Chief Operating Officer), leading him to go after Elijah's budding film career to bolster the movie with star power. Elijah will play Ryan Gaerity's (Tommy Lee's former character) perky, albeit insane brother out for revenge.
Status: Post-Production
Expected Release: Summer 2007
Hollywood Buzz: Another sure fire Summer blockbuster. Video game tie in from Crave and Blitz games should make a tasty combo. This movie will blow you.
User Comments:
MManhunter32: This looks like utter shit. I wouldn't even see this film if my first born daughter's ransom depended on it. -3/1/06
AnnieJay_MAF: I'm not sure who decided Elijah wood was an actor all of a sudden, but the decision was made unilaterally. -2/21/06
Hanniballs: Bullshit on a plate. If films could smell, this would smell like burnt hair and failure. -2/20/06
Studio: Warner Brothers
Title: Blade Runner
Genre: Sci-Fi
Tag: Man Has Made His Match... Now It's His Problem
Director: Michael Bay
Actors: Vin Diesel, Clive Owen, Marissa Tomei
Synopsis: After much haggling, Michael Bay gets his wish and was granted permission to remake this 1982 film classic. Throwing out much of the original story Mr. Bay is opting this time around to focus on the revolts in the space colonies. Vin Diesel handily reprises the Rick Deckard role and Clive Owen will play Boy Batty. This film apparently summarizes most of the original plot in less than three scenes, and where Blade Runner ended, this film has Boy Batty befriend Rick. Then it picks up when they go off to hunt other androids in space. At least 4 car chases are confirmed.
Status: Post-Production
Expected Release: Summer 2006

Pharziders76ers: Great, an hour and a half of P-Diddy chanting and laying shitty loops over a perfectly good soundtrack. -3/7/06

Hollywood Buzz: This chilling tale of our dystopian future being conformed to the whim of a madman will make us all contemplate the bleak and helpless nature of ourselves.
User Comments:
DroverConXX: I would rather contract aids from a gunshot than see this piece of shit. -2/20/06
AnnieJay_MAF: No he turned it down when they decided his character would be ritualistically raped by one of the alien hybrids the doomsday machine creates. Not because of the rape part, but that he doesn't believe in alien hybrids. -1/3/06
Jorvaldthefirst: Is Brendan Fraser in this one? -1/1/06
Studio: Artisan

Hanniballs: Great, a spiritual successor to Over the Top.
DroverConXX: Seeing this movie and building a hitler memorial synagogue are tied for position on my to-do list.
Cloud717VV: I imagine this film is like eating an oyster and rancid mayonaise sandwhich after you found it in a mass grave. Would something like this even have a premiere? Or will they simply suffice to shit directly onto the public thinking people will see it?

User Comments:
MManhunter32: Hide the Heroin and Clown Makeup Courtney is shooting up into theatres, she'll sure be high on star power ... and heroin.
Vrabler44: It must take courage for her to show her face in public, let alone in a film.
Phraisin: Last year I got stabbed in the eye with a screwdriver. Even while liking romantic comedies, I'd rather be lose the other eye before I see this.
