Last week 7HM, and, more specifically, our own Jesse Cottrell, were the victims of a most grievous and obscene assault at the hands of the algid assassin known as Sub-Zero. Deathly cold both in powers and state of heart, for the past three years Sub-Zero has conducted a bi-monthly attack upon the life on Mr. Cottrell for reasons still uncertain to this day. Three years Jesse has outwitted this most venomous of murderers, three years has he struggled to retain his peace of mind as he sat with his children at the dinner table, and three years to the day of Sub-Zero's first murderous attempt do we now inform you of his near success. Daniel was the first to arrive at 7HM headquarters upon receiving a distress signal inside his submarine from Jesse's signal ring, and he arrived in time to observe what would have brought any lesser man to his knees: 7HM Gardens in flames, the 7HM Stables broken and stallions running amok in panic, the great 7HM Library buried beneath a veritable mountain of rubble, and, lastly, 7HM Airfield a smoking mess, airplanes frozen and shattered as Jesse himself lay on the landing strip, his upper body beaten and broken, his lower body black and useless with frostbite. Had he not activated his force field in time, surely he would have completely perished, though perhaps his near-catatonic state of bludgeon and of shock, coupled with the tears streaming from his eyes and the mysterious word "Gabrielito" repeating again and again from his lips could hardly be described as preferable. He now lays in the 7HM Sick Bay, his children Marco Antonio and Marie Antoinette sitting sleeplessly by their father's bedside, hoping to be awake when he stirs once more. And what have our elected officials done in the midst of this fear-inducing tragedy? Our conservatives say "we cannot simply extradite from Outworld's sovereign territory without a formal transgression on their government's behalf, hence discarding years of diplomacy with our nation's constant economic ally", whereas our liberals say "although regrettable, the assault on 7HM was nothing more than collateral damage for previous grievances, and our lack of understanding denotes intolerance for other ways of life." With our elected official's impotence in plain sight, we must implore the president to allow Scorpion back into the country, albeit under a secure watch. Sub-Zero is free to wreak havoc because there is no Scorpion to keep him in check, as is applicable to Scorpion in foreign countries. Let us restore the balance and protect our children from future senseless ninjitsu vendettas, and give them each other to prey upon.
Til then, we the remaining members of 7HM sit here in our War Room, contemplating how far our consciences allow us to act in the name of justice. Dare we release 7HM illustrator Sterling from his undergound vibranium cell, hence risking another inferno in the Oakland hills? Dare Jerome light his Green Lantern ring once more, frightening the world into submission with emerald tonfas borne of the greatest weapon in Creation? Dare Kai set loose his wrathful genie Lkz from his magic pen, battering the corrupt with the fists of his imagination? Dare Armando activate his beloved Mata-Haris around the globe's socioeconomic levels, bathing the streets in blood and terror in the pursuit of the assassin? Dare Dan ingest Chemical X and transform himself once more into Golem 7, the crippler of hate and bane of a dozen worlds? The future is uncertain, but each tick of the clock bears our patience a little less... |
